Santa Cruz Tourism Council Submits Application for 2006 Governors
Rural Development Conference
In January, the Santa Cruz Tourism Council submitted its application
for the 2006 Governors Rural Development Conference. Though we
won’t have a final decision until the selected site is
announced at this year’s conference, all indications are
that our proposal was very strong!
This
Conference is the "big event" for
Arizona's rural community leaders and economic development
professionals.
Approximately 450-550 elected and appointed officials, city
and county staff, tribal leaders, chamber of commerce executives,
business people, volunteers, and community and economic developers
from throughout Arizona attend the Conference. The Conference
will provide an opportunity for us to feature the As the
Birds Fly South program as well as show our attractions,
cultural and natural resources, recreational activities,
and area businesses to over 400 community leaders from throughout
Arizona. The participants often bring spouses and guests
to share in the events or return for family vacations after
their exposure to the hosting community.
If we are successful and selected to host the conference,
we will establish a committee and send out an announcement
inviting your organization to participate in the planning
of the event. Thanks to all the individuals and businesses
who helped make our application strong.
"The
Birds Fly South" is sponsored in part through funding
from the USDA RBEG grant program.
